Happy Employees will help take the company to the next level. Dec 29, 2016 I worked at Vitamix full-time (More than a year) Pros Great pay, great company and the managers are very helpful. You do work long hours, but you get a lot of days off in between so it balances out. In fact I think the work/life balance here is much better than your typical job. Cons Long hours, you stand 10+ hours per day. They over saturate the market making some shows very hard. Advice to Management Schedule shows further apart, and less sales so that people need to buy when they see you. As it is, the savvy shoppers know you'll be back soon. Advice to Management Find a way to reinvent yourself by going back to some of your old principals. Nov 28, 2016 Pros It was fun before 2010 Cons they have totally over saturated the market :( Advice to Management Retire your entire sales force Oct 29, 2016 Helpful (4) I worked at Vitamix full-time Pros The basic bread and butter product of this company-the household blender-is one of if not the best on the market in terms of performance. There are long term employees in the company that are an excellent resource in terms of the core business. The brand is *almost* iconic to those who know about it.Although not current as of this review, the profit share was very generous when the business was doing well. Cons In general, read up on causes of failure in multi-generational family businesses. This company exhibits many of those symptoms.A period of super growth in the market spurred a threefold growth in personnel over two years, with the company becoming "top heavy"-- think of a niche business that hires in people with a big company mindset.

While the small company model mindset still prevails and the market would continue to support the company, the big company folks concentrate on "building staff". The key word is "unsustainable".A big con is lack of accountability. There have some been some projects that have resulted in failure, but the individuals making those decisions have been kept on in their current role. Advice to Management You have already made the mistake of believing your own press. You need to understand that if you are going to stay with your core business, you have to tamp down the idea of becoming a Fortune 100 company and focus on the core business. That means keeping a cool head, admitting you made mistakes, and being prudent from this point on. You make a good product. If you hire someone because of their experience in the industry, especially consumer products, listen to them carefully. Oct 18, 2016 Helpful (8) I worked at Vitamix full-time Pros The company use to be great back in the day. There was no limit to how much money you could make with them.

Cons The business expanded to quickly because of growth and the sales reps were not able to pull in the sales that they once were able to in the past. Selling in to many venues and offering better prices and packages than the sales reps could compete with. Hiring managers that were inexperienced in handling such growth which led to inconsistency in management. Took away all travel expenses which any sales company should pay for their reps if they care about them. Because the reps had to pay for travel expenses on top of better deals for the product online and in other retail locations it made it near impossible to make any decent money with them anymore. I makes me really sad because this company was great at one time and they still make a great product. Advice to Management At this point I don't think there is anyway to turn everything around from the damage that has been done. You have just fallen into the river with all the other sales companies that have made the same changes over and over again and forgot all the people who made the company great.
