My only gripe is that they made a weak attachment for the chopper and it breaks off, eventually. I've replaced mine twice in the past 10 years, but now they no longer have the replacement part available anywhere. So when it breaks, you are stuck with this awesome machine that is totally unusable because the chopper is broken off and not available to replace. These machines were built to last a lifetime, but the company refuses to honor that by refusing to stock replacements for a part that has been known to break ever since they started selling it.

bodum blender 1 2 500w test 1. Feed through lid is convenient to add things while running, but it is hard to clean.
kitchenaid stand mixer kv25 2. Spigot is another very hard to clean spot, and I did not find any use for it so far (mostly use unit for making complicated smoothies, sous, and grinding seeds).
costco ninja blender 1100Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-ownedby My brushes were shotReplaced my old unit whose brushes were worn out. Swappd out one broken handle and the shaft sprocket from my old unit and it is now as it should be. No sparking or smoking and runs cool.

Haven't actually put it to work yet but I'm sure it will be fine. If I could find the motor brushes replacements I would fix my old one too.Condition: Pre-ownedby VitamixThis is the second one we have had. My wife used the old one a lot but after 30 years the coupler between the motor and blades broke, and the action dome was broken and held together with rubber bands. My wife has other blenders but she wanted a VITAMIX. Now she is happy and so am I.Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-ownedby I love it!My grandmother had this model and used it forever and a day. I knew this was a must have in my life as an adult. I looked at the new ones and they look so weak when it came to wear and tear and amount of use that would be involved with mine. I decided to go with the classic stainless steel and love the spout. I did purchase a stopped which I never remembered my grandmother having. The power is amazing : )Verified purchase: Yes | Available from these sellers. Used (1) from $219.00 + $11.99 shipping

It has been a workhorse for me all these years, and I love to cook. Pros: It still works after all these years, although I don't think anyone has been using it.Cons:I can't see if things are blended. I love my vitamix 3600. I have used it for many many years and my mom has one that she has used for 30 years and it is still going strong. IT WILL LAST A LIFE TIME.I GOT MY VITA-MIX IN 1969, I USE IT 3 TO 4 TIMES A DAY.IT STILL HAS THAT NEW LOOK" AND WORKS NOW AS WELL AS WHEN IT WAS NEW.I BOUGHT 3 MORE ON E-BAY" ONE FOR MY DOCTER, ONE FOR MY DENTIST, ONE FOR MY SISTER.THAY ALL SAY IT'S THE BEST EVER!Sold by: hartman8159(1)(0) Vitamix 3600 Commercial-owned for 20 years-still use itI bought a Vitamix 3600 (it's the commercial model) abt 1992. The first one broke, but it was on warranty, so they replaced it. The second one I still have (2013).It has a very powerful motor, goes in reverse, chops up stemmy, fibrous herbs, like bupleurum root.

(The bupleurum is especially fibrous, and some of the pieces don't get too small, but most of it was powder, and I'm able to put it into capsules). It still runs just fine after 20 years, and has a reset button in case you overload it so that the motor doesn't burn out. I like that since I often overload it. They advertise that it will cut up children's wooden blocks. Although I've never tried that, I have ruined the wooden poking stick that came with the machine, by poking too deep, so I believe it would prolly grind any wood to powder. The thing I don't like about it is, since I use it a for grinding herbs and grinding grains, the herbs and grains get stuck in the spigot and it's sometimes hard to get them out. I never use the spigot, even if I'm making smoothies or milkshakes, so it's just kind of a nuisance for me. I keep meaning to find a way to plug it (The spigot does come off, but it leaves a hole in the metal, so I never have bothered to figure out how to fix it. I wonder if they make a plug for it?)

All in all, I think it's fine for most everything. I like that you can start out with wheat berries, and end up with ready to bake bread dough. I would advise people to order the booklet (it's 1/2 inch thick). It has lots of recipes, and tells of lot of ways to use the Vitamix that you might not think of otherwise.Mine is pretty rusty after almost 20 years, but I live in an area that has salt spray from the ocean. The only thing I've had to do is tighten the screw on the handle (it gets loose from time to time)and replace the rubber gasket on the dome. Someone here was saying you can get parts on ebay. Just last month I ordered two spare gaskets from 123accent. 7.50 for each and free shipping to Hawaii, so I though that was pretty good.(0) Get one for your kitchen! Good quality at a great price!I am reviewing the model 3600 that I bought on Ebay. I wanted quality for a good price, not a piece of junk that would break after 90 days so I settled on this model. The main difference between the standard 3600 that I have and the 3600 Plus is that the 3600 Plus and the 4000 models have a 12 point drive and the 3600 has a 6 point drive to the blade coupler.

I removed the motor base bottom cover (with the unit unplugged to prevent dangerous shocks of course) to oil the bearings and I was very impressed with the quality of this machine. The bearing housings appear to be made of cast bronze and there is no plastic anywhere! The motor is massive. This thing is built like a battleship. The switches are heavy duty and the contacts look they are rated for very high current to stand up to any arcing that occurs when switching speeds or motor direction.Next, the container was half filled with hot water and a drop of dish soap for a cleaning. There was a tornado of suds cleaning the container and the Action Dome (which seals well with a new gasket). It really does self clean. Next up a green smoothie with fresh fruit, protein powder and ice cubes. The ice was pulverized along with the rest of the ingredients for an ice cold treat. I threw the ice cubes right through the action dome funnel while the machine was running and they became instant slush.

There is plenty of torque with the six point drive too. I am very happy with this appliance. It is one of the best quality kitchen machines I have ever used. I looked at the newer models and not only are they more than twice what I paid for a 3600 but the container is made of plastic. The base unit and toggle switches are also primarily made of plastic. From what users say they are a dream to operate and they work very well but I wonder if they will stand the test of time like some of these 3600's and 4000's that have been in operation for decades and are still running trouble free? I guess time will tell. My advice is to buy a 3600 or 4000. You can't go wrong with these for the quality and price! The rubber stoppers that are for sale on Ebay are also a good idea to prevent any drops of liquid from escaping the action dome funnel when the machine is running at high speed. There are also vintage Vitamix 3600/4000 cookbooks available. I got one of these too. Reading through this is an education on the many ways to use this appliance.

(0) Beats other blenders hands downI love the vita mix and use it weekly if not more often. When my maxi 4000 one broke after several yrs, I had to get another replacement. I just couldn't be without. They are so useful for all kinds of things and heavy duty. I was concerned about burning up my oster blender while I was w/o a vita mix.I don't see any difference in the 3600 plus vs the maxi 4000. If you bake or cook from scratch, you won't regret buying the vita mix! For instance, it only takes seconds, literally, to make butter from fresh cream. Beats other blenders hands down.(0) Buy a Ninja you will be happy you did instead of buying a Vitamix.I have always had vitamix blenders. My blade assembly broke and the motor units I have two both were on their last legs. I contacted vitamix and found out the part I wanted was nearly $100 not including the container. I have loved this blender for the last 20yrs due to it being stainless steele and durable hence the 35yrs old blender...yes it was already 15yrs old when I got it.
