Like others reported, the chopper cover stuck to the chopper bowl, although I was able to remove it with... I'd like to love it, but between the two of us twisting this way and that, we cannot manage to get the top off of the blending cup. I use it all the time. It's a great way to make homemade re-fried beans, thicken soups with blended vegetables, and make guacamole. Ive purchased two of these over the past few years. Both worked fine, at least briefly. The first one broke within the first 3-5 uses. Not the motor, but the detachable blade part. I had it for a few months before it burned out. It overheated straight out of the box and a white plastic ball fell into the mix. It overheated constantl;y until it died. Bought this blender yesterday at a big box store and it broke within the first couple of minutes pureeing BOILED carrots/cauliflower.
I have had this hand blender for several years, and the only reason it has lasted that long is that I hardly ever use it. Have to return it as the lid to the chopper bowl can not be removed. I saw where this was a problem several other have had with this and so I called Oster. Bought this to replace my Cuisinart Smart Stick, which I finally killed after two years of daily use (I don't think any home appliance is made to stand up to that kind of abuse!).
