I looked into several options and decided to try this one... As I have borrowed from my sister her higher costing and more heavy duty stand mixer in the past (Boy those things weigh a ton), I really wasn't expecting this one to perform like hers... It is light weight, a little flimsy in the turntable area, the multi-speed button sticks a little and kinda catches when trying to move the mixer into the "up" position... brdr price blenderOver all though - It works and does the job well!!! It makes beautiful fluffy icing in a fraction of the time it took me to do it by hand... SO worth the price that I may buy a second one so I can whip up meringue and icing at the same time!!! I have cooked for up to 100 folks in a volunteer organization and had a Kitchenaid mixer to use then which made food preparation go quickly and smoothly.

I have moved several times since then and finally gave my professionall grade Kitchenaid to a friend's son who is an aspiring chef. I thought this mixer would be sufficient since I don't use it much. How wrong I was! The only item I make now is a party cheese ball recipe I've made for over 40 years that everyone wants for several large parties... and this mixer doesn't even blend soft cheese spreads easily. It takes three times longer to blend the room temperature cheeses even close to the consistency needed before adding the other ingredients. If you are mixing light batters this likely will work for you, but I'm going to invest in the 4.5 quart Kitchenaid mixer this fall even though I will only use it a few times a year. I used it 4 times and the motor started to smoke, heat up, and set off the fire alarm. I was simply making a batch of red velvet cookies which is made from the actual cake mix so not a firm mixture at all.

Limited Warranty please read it before you buy this product or any Hamilton Beach product as it does not cover the following on as part of this product: 1 yr. limited warranty states that it does not cover the following: clutches, motor brushes, and/or agitators so what is the point of even bothering with a warranty at all. There is more listed so basically only 5% of this product falls under their 1 yr. limited warranty coverage. Also information on product ie: model & series# were not listed anywhere on the product and only found the model number on the back of the instruction booklet which was written in Spanish only no English version of that information was given.
