It is advertised as starting slow so that it won't have that big splash in the beginning, but that is not true at all.Works perfectly, and I love that the blade comes out so I can clean it well. The only slight issue I've had is with the rubber ring that sits inside the blender around... Very disappointed with this blender. I can never tell when it has clicked together properly and if it hasn't, then it leaks everywhere when you turn it on.
