My only gripe is that they made a weak attachment for the chopper and it breaks off, eventually. I've replaced mine twice in the past 10 years, but now they no longer have the replacement part available anywhere. So when it breaks, you are stuck with this awesome machine that is totally unusable because the chopper is broken off and not available to replace. These machines were built to last a lifetime, but the company refuses to honor that by refusing to stock replacements for a part that has been known to break ever since they started selling it.

Hence they changed the chopper design. Notice how many "base only" models there are for sale on ebay. This fact, in my opinion, makes the Vitamix company pretty low on my list of companies that stand behind their products. Too bad someone hasn't manufactured an after market version, or that Vitamix hasn't offered a conversion kit to switch the old models to the newer chopper. And they would not even respond to my emails inquiring about the chopper situation. So, 5 stars for the product, 1 star for the company. Swappd out one broken handle and the shaft sprocket from my old unit and it is now as it should be. No sparking or smoking and runs cool. The Vitamix 3600 was a model originally released in 1969. While Vitamix has discontinued production of the 3600, parts and service are still available via its website, though in recent years it has begun to offer reconditioned parts alongside newly manufactured ones. The Vitamix 3600 can effectively grind fruits, seeds and grains for flour.
