Blender was unable to handle frozen strawberries even with juice in the blender to help it out. The blades wouldn't even turn half the time with the container less than halfway... Blender part works great but chopper doesnt chop at all.

Great blender, makes smoothies really fine and smooth, no ice chunks left over, but 4 stars because of a cosmetic issue with the metal-looking side paneling, which is just stuck on... i love Love this blender it has diffarent speeds which i love and it always makes my smoothies or anything else i put in have an amazing texture I'm not about to say that this blender is the best I've ever owned, but it is, by far, the best blender I've ever owned in terms of value/price.

And the whole setup looks very nice on the counter. The lid is a little snug, but that's a good thing when talking about blenders. Besides, you don't want one with a loose lid. It literally only takes minutes to make a smoothie! Crushes ice without a problem, yeah there are a few hiccups during the process, but all blenders are going to do that at one point or another. Just shake the glass and hit the button again and all is good.
We've made smoothies from juice, whole frozen strawberries, frozen pineapple chunks, frozen raspberries, ice, etc... and haven't encountered a problem at all. In fact, a friend of mine who has been making smoothies for years used my blender and he's the one who said "This blender is a beast!". It works great, looks great, and comes with a great price tag, so if you're looking for a good deal on a great blender do yourself a favor and get this one! After some minimal use this seems to be a very good blender for the money and works as advertised but there are a couple of minor caveats: first, it is a little noisy which in my case, is ok.. it's not like it's going to be running constantly. second, the lid with the pour spout and 'vent' is a little "chintzy".
One of the major selling points of this blender was the fact that it has a wonderful, heavy glass jar which I LOVE but why on earth would they cut corners on the plastic lid? It is interesting to note that the instructions say that everything except the base is dishwasher safe but not to run the 'sanitizing cycle' when doing so. this is a great blender for the price and looks good too. Incidentally, I also bought a Hamilton Beach toaster and can opener and I am very please with them as well. This Hamilton Beach really shreds!! It's got a 4-bladed ripper in the bottom that really does the job. This blender has only 4 buttons -- 2 that you "pulse" (you have to hold them), and 2 that lock-in when you push them. Believe me -- that's all you need! Ya' don't need a blender with 8-12 buttons. This blender seemed small to me at first, but it's huge.
The shape of the glass pitcher deceives you. It's shorter & fatter, and very stable if you need to set the pitcher down on your counter or table. The whole unit is heavy, solid & stable. The lid is great, too, because it fits tight (no leaks), and the fliip-up opening is large enough to be VERY useful, as long as your smoothee, shake or frap is blended smooth enough to pour. There are different buttons that suggest different styles of blending. They just vary in speed and power...nothing else... The one slight issue I have with it is durability. I use it quite often (about 4 times a week) and already after a month of ownership, the blades are not cutting as finely as they did when I first bought it. Ultimately, if you are looking for a blender that you use once a week to do basic blending, this would work.

However, I can tell you this. This blender, which I believe is only available online, is the probably best value in Walmart amongst all the other Hamilton Beach blenders and other manufacturers. I can conclude this because based on two key facts: 1. It has the biggest motor, 700 Watts, of all the blenders, regardless of their price, and oddly, this is either the least expensive or one of the least expensive blenders you can buy! If you've ever made ice drinks, you know that motor power is everything to avoid jams and start-overs, so 700 Watts is the best you can find in the under $50 price range. Ninjas have more power, but they start at about $90, not $25. This is a great product for the money. You'll note that most of the more expensive blenders for sale on the shelf costing $30 to $50 only have 350-450 Watt motors, so you do the math. 2. This blender has a solid glass pitcher unit for durablility, cleanliness, clarity, etc. A lot of unit have plastic pitchers. It also has a unique no spill spout.
