I make lots of smoothies & it crushes ice perfectly The buttons do stay stay pressed down. In order to operate, I have to hold the button down--no matter which one I press! Works like a charm!! Stops working randomly for "over heating?" I was making one smoothie. Not exactly tons of work. I use it every morning to make a green smoothie.
