Food and Drink Blending During heavy use, this blender heats up a lot - is that normal? According to the manufacturer, the large motor in this blender may become hot after prolonged use. However, this is not a substitute for proper cooking and preparation of food that is being placed into this unit. Prepare delicious blended beverages with a Waring high-power blender! Your really get value here. Sure you can buy a better and more expensive blender. But for the price you really cant beat this blender. i would recommend it to a medium busy business. If you do some research you will realize that this is way better than other blenders. more importantly its at half the price and almost double the horsepower. Cleans easily and is a great investment. Only thing I don't like is the orange sticker backing. I did a huge amount of web research comparing this to the Vitamix and Blendtec competition. Although how the Waring actually gets to 3.5 HP (it doesn't make sense technically as the motor watts aren't high enough to make that math work), it still has more power and speed than the competition for hundreds less ($318 versus $529 for the Vitamix 7500).
The "hundreds less" was what allowed my wife to agree to the purchase without risking divorce proceedings. It works beautifully for green smoothies and generally even blends in berry seeds. It's amazingly powerful and will quickly blend even tougher materials. As a point of concern, the blade's bearings do get disturbingly hot pretty quick. Even if you run it with nothing in the jar, the bearing spindle on the bottom of the jar will get hot enough to burn your fingers after only a minute or so of running. I contacted both this site and Waring and they basically reported back that "It's not a bug, it's a feature!"; that's how it will heat up contents into hot steaming soup! For cold smoothies, just limit the blend time to no more than about a minute to avoid getting a warm smoothie. If you study the video demonstrations on the web, all the blender manufacturers use copious amounts of ice in their videos or in-store demos. Now you know why. I haven't tried whipping egg whites, making peanut butter or chopping olive meat off of the pits yet but I am very happy with the unit.
And it slides under my 17-3/4" high upper cabinets by maybe 1/8". It's weight and big rubber feet makes it solid and doesn't dance around when running, but given it's weight doesn't slide easily, so you have to pick it up to move it. That's one of the good things/bad things. So far the plastic jar cleans easily enough. Generally it just requires a rinse for water-soluble liquids. With anything oil based or sticky, then run it with some dish soap and water for 10 seconds, then rinse. Of course getting in the habit of cleaning up immediately makes it easy. Part of the buy-decision to get the Waring was to be able to get the stainless steel jar at some point; I've read reports on the web that ALL plastics leach chemicals. Even if it is supposedly "BPA Free". The Stainless Steel jar is wonderfully robust, it's just ridiculously expensive. What bothers me is that the blender model (XTS) with the stainless jar costs as much as just buying the XTP (with the plastic jar) + the accessory stainless steel jar.
In other words, there is no $89 credit accounting when buying the more expensive XTS (without the plastic jar). The XTS model should be $89 less.... ! (Which is the replacement cost for the plastic jar). That sort of thing makes me crazy. I would give it 5 stars except that the stainless jar that I really wanted (to clearly distinguish this great unit from the competition) is just too ridiculously expensive at $259 extra.... I love this blender, I have a nutribullet, and now I had a nutribullet. The Waring Xtreme ,is worth every penny. I made my first smoothie, 10 minutes after opening, fantastic. this is the ultimate blender right here. The horse power is much higher than the vitamix. the variable speed control maximizes the versatility of this blender. This blender is great for making specialty drinks and it's multiple speeds are availible for whatever task is at hand! This blender crushes through ice to make your drinks smooth! I love this blender its does what ever job I want to do and has the flexability of different speeds to mix or blend anything I want.also great for frozen drinks with ice.
