We decided to retire our blender to our daughter and replace our machine.After careful research, she decided on a Vitamix Next Generation G Series Professional 750, 2.2 peak output HP that offered a 7 yr warrantee. The cost -- $640. She asked my opinion. I have seen Waring in all the commercial kitchens. I knew the story of Fred Waring who was a big band leader in the 1940s. He was crazy about his cocktails. He wanted to improve making shaved ice rather than banging ice in a cloth or shaving with a knife. He invented the Waring Blender. This Commercial Xtreme Hi-Power Variable-Speed Food Blender makes as much of a difference today as his original invention did 60 years ago.We gave it a try and WOW. My wife says she is so happy with this machine and so glad I found this 3.5 HP monster, the same power as my lawnmower.

For a month now, she makes smoothies with ½ container of ice cubes on level 5 out of 10 for 10 seconds, and then stirs in yogurt, blends twice at 1-second intervals on level 1. I guess the upper reaches of this blender will be for my beet and potato soups and from seeing how this thing pulverizes; I will not have to chop. The Raptor Copolyester container is amazingly strong. The blade and container wash clean in warm water with a few drops of soap by just turning the blender back on for a few seconds, just like the Vita Mix.My point, we saved over $320 with no loss of quality or functionality. The only cons (if you care about these things) are: you probably won't impress the neighbors and there is no color option. But if you want function over prestige, buy with confidence. You'll end up with more than pocket change. For an extra 5bucks with shipping I got the Waring 032761 MX Jar Wrench so when I need to replace the container or blade I can do so without buying both or trying to figure out which wrench I need when the time arises.

You also might want to check out The Savoy Cocktail Book: A Facsimile edition of the original pub in 1930 by Constable & Co., the same in every way except absinthe, no longer obtainable and for which Pernod is substituted.
