In my mind I had to decide among 3 companies: Waring, Vita Mix or Blendtec. I ended up buying the Waring MX1100XT because of its powerful motor, manufacturing quality, price and modern look. It sure makes a statement on my kitchen counter. The Blendtec seemed ok but also a bit flimsy, smaller and lighter than the Waring. As for the Vita Mix I have no doubt about its good quality but the Waring is more powerful and less expensive, so choosing the Waring was a no brainer. Actually in my mind Waring blenders are as much of good quality (if not better) as Vita Mix blenders however VM focuses way too much on marketing.
