Brooke & Edward’s Sweet Multicultural Wedding Posted by Becky   Categories // Idaho Weddings, Real Weddings Boy do I have a treat for you today! Brooke and Edward’s wedding is unlike any I have seen. Trying to blend two separate cultures in to one wedding can be a difficult thing, but Brooke and Edward pulled it off so well and it just goes to show how beautifully it can be done. Lucas Mobley Photography captured the fabulous photos, and Holly of Seattle-based Perfectly Posh Events handled all of the planning. She was kind enough to share all of the lovely details with us, so read on to hear about the unique and personal touches that Brooke and Edward used to celebrate each of their cultures uniting in love! “The groom, Edward, is Jewish and the bride, Brooke, is Native American from the Nez Perce tribe.  It took them several years to decide to get married because they were unsure of how to pay tribute to both heritages in the wedding ceremony.  As a compromise, they decided to have two separate ceremonies literally side-by-side to show that both traditions and heritages were equally important.
They then blended the two heritages throughout the wedding to create a unified theme.  For their attire the bride wore a traditional wedding gown and veil with hand beaded moccasins and hair broche, the groom wore a traditional Nez Perce ribbon shirt and Kippah.” The wedding ceremony and reception took place at the Nez Perce National Historical Park in Lapwai, Idaho on a scorching hot day with temperatures over 105*.  Approximately 200 guests attended from all over the world. For their favors, guests received generous gift bags filled with food and items for their homes.  This played tribute to the Nez Perce tradition of the bride’s family giving generous yet useful gifts & food to the groom’s family.  The bags included smoked salmon, traditional pots & bowls, a small tree, etc. The couple wanted the décor of the wedding to compliment the relaxed and naturally beautiful park setting.  They opted to have mason jars and bud vases of varying heights filled with an assortment of wild & elegant flowers to convey a look that reminded them of freshly picked flowers from their mothers’ gardens.
Their families helped to weave colorful yarn around all the vases to add a touch of Native American décor to the centerpieces. Food was incredibly important to Brooke and Edward.  They wanted a healthy and organic spread that represented both cultures.  We worked with Nectar Catering to create a locally sourced menu that highlighted salmon (a staple for both Native American & Jewish diets), corn bread with fresh bee’s honey (Native American) and challah bread (Jewish).bamix stavblender imerco For dessert, the couple chose a simple yet extremely decadent flourless chocolate cake with fresh huckleberry preserves, displayed on a variety of cake stands provided by their close family members.oster 4108 blender The evening ended with a heat storm complete with lighting, strong winds and rain which resulted in some pretty awesome photos for the sunset photo shoot of the couple!breville blender model bbl550xl
