I wanted to get a variable speed model, but I had a cap on the amount I would spend. I'm sure it would be nicer, but this one is fantastic. I've made dressings, yogurts, smoothies and more with this blender. I'm transitioning to mostly raw vegan food and this is a must. I use it everyday. The smoothest drinks I've ever made. If it's not a Vita Mix it's not a blender! If it's not a Vita Mix it's not a blender! If you have never used a Vita-mix and you love blending things your in for a treat. You can just blend fresh fruits and freeze them, it's just like ice cream! Remember there's a reason why all the corporate chain foods businesses use only Vit-Mix's to make blended drinks.
