I bought both at Costco.I bought the 5000 in 2004. I used it daily for 10 years. good but too expensive :) I bought a refurbished vitamix off of the vitamix's website. The shipping was really fast-- within 48 hours! Watch out for black specs in your container!!!! Blend Clean water for a few mins on high and pour out water in a white bowl.... you'll see. just bought it at costco.
