Parece claro que las decisiones en materia económica tomadas por el gabinete del gobierno sandinista durante estos últimos años no han hecho más que engordar la deuda nacional y poner un precio dolar hoy en Nicaragua a niveles que no se veían desde hace muchos años.

El gobierno populista de Ortega, muy en la línea de otros presidentes “visionarios” y demasiado revolucionarios de Latinoamérica como los de Venezuela o Bolivia, ha aplicado políticas basadas en la estatalización del mercado y una completa regulación por parte del Estado. Con un precio del dolar hoy en Nicaragua influido claramente por las restricciones solicitadas por el Fondo Monetario Internacional pidiendo una restricción sin concesiones del déficit fiscal, ya que éste está dañando severamente las reservas nacionales. En lo que va de año parece que se está acertando con los consejos y restricciones que impuso el Fondo Monetario Internacional, donde lo que se pretendía era un reajuste de la ejecución de proyectos públicos en lugar de conseguir más deuda. En caso de que se logre realizar un buen ajuste que favorezca a la economía nacional y a la situación actual del precio dolar en Nicaragua, el país estará cada vez más preparado para avanzar por el buen camino en materia de desarrollo.

Las próximas elecciones que se celebrarán en Noviembre, revelarán si el pueblo vuelve a darle su apoyo al Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional o si por el contrario, decide un cambio de rumbo. Con una política económica proteccionista y una deriva del precio del dolar en Nicaragua, no parece que el impulso de la actividad económica del país vaya a darse de aquí al momento de las votaciones, y los asuntos en materia de política fiscal por parte del gobierno no verán la luz hasta pasado este período de incertidumbre. Visto el panorama, y sabiendo cómo actúan la mayoría de los gobiernos de este tipo en período electoral – aumentando exageradamente el gasto público para atraer la atención de los votantes a favor del partido político que esté en el poder, en este caso el FSLN – se augura que el precio del dolar hoy en Nicaragua difiera mucho del que podremos ver dentro de unos meses, a principios de 2012, que será un período caracterizado por una contracción marcada del gasto público y una política monetaria más restrictiva aún que la de este año en curso.
