Yes it's an expensive blender, really expensive, but if you are going to use a blender a few times a week for the next ten years then you should definitely get one of these.

If you buy cheaper ones you will be; sending your money to China, filling our land fills with more trash, depriving US workers of a job, missing out on better and healthier food, doing more damage to your ears, and most of all you will be missing out on using such a fine kitchen tool that is actually fun to use. These blenders are well engineered and built. Did you know that they have an internal breaker of some sort? If you over-load it, it will simply stop and wait until it cools down to work again. If you over-load a cheap blender, it will just burn up the motor and then it's garbage. If you use a blender regularly and you don't buy one of these and you buy a cheap one, write the price and date of purchase on it. When it breaks put it in a box and save it. After you get ten blenders in your box, add up the costs and figure out how much you have spent per year on blending. Then kick yourself for not buying a Vita-mix. Finally, found a reasonable "make an offer" deal and submitted a bid. We got to the final price very quickly which I really liked. There was a mistake in the invoice which was corrected immediately. Still learning its full capability.by Expensive Blender worth the priceI bought the Vitamix 1002 Blender because it was top rated by Consumer Reports which was the Vitamix 5000 and it is the commercial version of the Vitamix 5000. Its versatile the functionality of a blender and a food processor. Excellent for icy drinks,smoothies,puree,and crushed ice. My only complaint is that its is heavy and tall. I would recommend to all to shop Ebay and get it for a great price it is durable and long lasting. I can tell first hand this is not one of those blenders that you burn up the motor when you properly.
