While we try to recommend only products that are 100% plastic free there are few that have a plastic lid, seal or protective cover - in which case, they are sturdy and stable, BPA- and PVC-free plastics used in a way that has little or no contact with the food or drink. What we consider 'plastic': synthetic fibres such as polyester, melamine, plastic lining, and bio-plastics. Although bio-plastics claim to be made from plants, they may still contain petrochemicals, are not all compostable, and not necessarily "safe". 

We have sought verifcation that the bamboo 'plastic' that we stock contains no synthetic fillers, as most do. We consider silicone to be a type of synthetic plastic. While some attempt to pass it off as a 'natural' material derived from sand, hydrocarbons from fossil fuels are used in its manufacture.
