It has been a wonderful, versatile appliance (2 mixing bowls, 2 bread and 2 regular beaters, meat grinder, juicer, and blender), with a powerful motor, that continues to function perfectly. Naturally due to age, the rubber seal beneath the blender wore out. I recently tried to make smoothies, and liquid began to leak from the bottom of the blender. The bottom cap, sealing rings and, most importantly, the stainless steel blades FIT the 5-cup-glass-jar of my wife's Oster® Blender Model 248 Series A -- Vintage circa 1960. The top in this kit fits an 8-cup plastic jar, I think. The bearing of the old blade assembly seized up a few years ago. Been using a cheap, plastic substitute. Now, if they will only just re-stock the replacement 5-cup glass jar 014709-156-000.html The original is a bit chipped around the bottom.
