So I went to wal-mart and found this blender. On first inspection it seems low powered (450 watts compared to my old 1200), so I was sceptical to buy it, fearing it would not make smooth "smoothies" and crush ice. Well, the first use today has set my mind at ease (for now) It seems like it has less power than my old Oster but it blends and crushes ice for my smoothies just fine. Dare I say, that it actually does a better "smoother" job than my old Oster? Maybe new technology allows for less watts and more power? Either way, Im using less electricity and my smoothies are blended well! Knock on wood, for now, this blender has met my expectations and has blended my first smoothie with veggies, fruit, ice and juice very well and smooth.

I hope it does this for the next 45 years like my last Oster. I can only hope. (Yes, I used the high speed function as well but it was so loud I felt the need to avoid it.) I also had to add more than one cup of fruit juice to get the blades to catch. Once things got going there was a distinct line of smoothie actually being blended and a portion that was not blending or moving at all.
oster pre programmed blender blstdg-rI only had the blender filled to four cups but it couldn't handle the volume.
blendtec blender na obrokeI suspect that the 450 watts works great for the smoothie cup attachment but not an eight cup jar.

I wanted to stick with the brand but the products they make go from the extreme high end price to the $14.95, one plastic 16oz jar type. I needed a large jug for mixing Summer time drinks and this Oster Party Jar is huge! It crushes a full 8 cups of ice in under a minute.

kitchenaid blender ksb565erI have used it to make sauces and with the pulse button you can puree veggies to just the way you like them.
rival blender bl450 replacement partsThe negative remarks I have read seem to be the result of improper use.

The owners guide will tell you to prep items you want to blend and what speeds to use to do different jobs. I read through mine before I used it and have had nothing but pleasure with it. The person that said they smelled burning plastic most likely didn't take the time to go by the book. If you want a Ninja, this is NOT going the do thesame job. if you want a practical, everyday, light to moderate blender, Walla! this one is great. and the Walmart only special price cannot be beat. Yes () No (2) Report Yes () No (2) Verified purchaser I just returned the less expensive Oster 14 speed blender because it was defective right out of the box. Wal-Mart customer service refunded my money and was very polite. I decided to stick with Oster but spent 10 dollars more to buy the Oster 14-Speed Party Jar Blender. I like the oversize 8 cup glass jar for making soup and blending fruits and vegetables. Both blenders have the same 450 watt motor but the Party Jar Blender has a larger more stable base with more clearance so the motor cooling is excellent.

I also make my morning protein shakes using milk, protein powder, banana, frozen fruit and vegetables. It's a good way to start the day. I am retired and travel a lot in my RV. The powerful 450 watt motor gets the job done without overloading any circuits also runs fine off the generator. Yes () No (6) Report Yes () No (6) I bought this blender to replace an identical model I had been using almost every day for the last 3 years. As inexpensive as this model is, it is very durable. It does not have the fancy attachments & accessories as with the more expensive blenders but this blender meets my needs. The only complaint I have is that it is loud. I use it to make my breakfast shake every morning & I have to shut the doors so that I don't wake up other family members Yes (6) No (0) Report Yes (6) No (0) We have purchased it from Walmart a month ago. Initially we have encountered sealing ring breakage, then we have exchanged it. Second time we faced problem with the Blend & Go smoothie cup attachment, every time i use it leaks and make the entire self messy.

So again we have exchanged it and this time also we are facing the same problem with the Cup attachment it leaks again. It of no use. All the three time we are facing some or the other problem. I have used this blender to make smoothies and to make bulk quantity adult beveages. the big pitcher had me wondering if it would make good drinks at the right consistancy and it has everytime. Yes () No (1) Report Yes () No (1) This is a great blender for parties, it has a very large capacity picher and it is powerful and great looking.

My mom also has this blender and we both love it! Yes () No (4) Report Yes () No (4) Opened it up. Glass pitcher is large and heavy (good quality for the price!) Filled it less than 1/2 full with diced tomatoes, some cilantro and 1 jalapeño. Turned it on, it turned on for about 10 seconds and then stopped. Thought maybe I blew a fuse, so I tried 3 different outlets. Took the pitcher off, emptied it, tried it with only some water... Not even a hum from the motor. Honestly after having driven almost 30 miles to get to the store to specifically pick this item up, and have it burn up in 10 seconds is beyond frustrating. Wasn't able to prep and fix the good for the dinner I was hosting and will now have to make that drive to return the product. Wish I'd read these other reviews here...
