The base unit has suction cups on it, so it will stay in place on the countertop and not wander around as it operates. The smaller chopper with its matching containers is more like a traditional blender and requires a little more technique to get all the ice to be chopped into puree. We got it delivered free and paid under $90 for it online. Overall, for the price, this unit is awesome, even if it lists for over $100 now. Would certainly recommend it to anyone, anytime! My old blender with a little power had the blade at the bottom and would pull the top ingredients into the bottom. The blades on this blender do NOT do that. The extra blades look attractive, but serve no purpose. I have to start and restart this blender so many times that the extra power it has serves no purpose.
