It's serves all purposes.i can make smoothy and also grind carrot n beet root if finely chopped. And requires very low maintenance! must have for every kitchen I gifted this to my mom, she is really happy with it. She was using a similar model prior to this. The upgraded model has some improvements which i don't remember now.
