Before I being this review, I’d like to point out that both of these machines do an amazing job at creating healthy and nutritious drinks. If you are looking to introduce a little more fruit and veg into your diet or looking to create a nutritious drink to supplement a rigorous gym routine – both of these blenders are up to the task. This review goes into a little more depth than the above video, giving you the option to check out the prices on Amazon below.

And now, down to the review.. To begin, it’s a good idea to take a look at the basic operation of each device and point out their many similarities along the way. Both devices are produced by the same manufacturer, with the Magic Bullet being the first blender on the scene, followed by the Nutribullet a few years down the track. As demonstrated in the video above, you begin by adding your desired ingredients into the cup. You first add your solid ingredients such as spinach, carrots and fruits. It’s also good idea to add a little liquid such as water or juice. Once you have filled your cup (being careful not to fill past the designated line) firmly screw the cross blade to the top of the cup. To affix the cup to the base of the blender, you simply turn your cup up-side-down and align the plastic tab with the base of the blender. You then lock the cup into place by gently twisting to the right. To blend your ingredients, gently press down on the top of the cup.

The time it will take to blend will all depend on what you have placed into your cup. Softer items such as Banana and Spinach will take less time – averaging from 30 seconds to a full minute to process. Harder ingredients such as Carrot or Frozen items, it will take longer – from 4 minutes onwards to complete. Once blended, you release the cup from the base by gently twisting the cup to the left. Remove the cup form the base and remove the cross blades. It will take a little more effort to remove the cross blades as they tend to tighten during operation. Pour contents into a portable sealed cup to take to work (like I do) or pour into a glass to serve. If you are making a soup, place the content into a microwave safe container and heat on high for a couple of minutes. Alternatively, place the contents of the cup into a saucepan, add a little seasoning and bring to the boil on your stove top. I personally love to add a little sour cream, salt and pepper to a post blended combination of Pumpkin, Onion and a little garlic and a little stock.

Cleaning the cup and cross blade, couldn’t be any simpler. Quarter fill your cup with warm water and add a small trace of disk washing detergent. Pulse for a couple of second, empty the contents and place on a dish rack to dry. As you may have seen in the video above, the results are aren’t quite the same. The Magic bullet clearly doesn’t have the power necessary to blend frozen ingredients. On the same level of difficulty comes nuts and ice. The results to the left were achieved after blending wall nuts in the magic bullet for 30 seconds. The Nutribullet clearly dose a better job with its more powerful motor. While the result aren’t perfect it dose a good job. The results to the right were achieved in the Nutrabullet after milling nuts, oats and grains for 15 seconds. It also important to note that both these machines are classed as single serve blenders and not as juicers. When making a decision between the two popular blenders, there are two main factors to consider. The first and most important factor is what you will be doing with the blender. If you think you’ll be blending ingredients such as ice, frozen berries or carrots – you’d best to go with the Nutribullet. The powerful motor in the Nutribullet will do a better job at breaking down these tough ingredients. If you think you’ll stick to softer items such as bananas, mango or avocado – the Magic Bullet is certainly up to the task. Although the motor is less powerful, it will excel with these types of ingredients. The second consideration is the cost. The average price before shipping (at the time of this article) for the Magic Bullet is around $45. The Nutribullet will set you back around $80. The Magic Bullet may not be the most powerful blender on the market, but it is the cheapest – ideally making it the best smoothie blender for people to test the waters with.

If you fall in love with blending green smoothies, you can always upgrade at a later date. My recommendation goes to the Nutribullet for its superior motor and overall performance. If you can spring for the extra $30 dollars, the Nutribullet will offer you a far smoother texture and allows you to get more creative with you master piece. Be sure to take a quick look through the many positive reviews on Amazon (links below) – left by people who have purchased the blenders through their online store. While both machines are extremely capable, successors have been released. In 2016 and leading into 2017 – the Nutribullet Pro 900 is the way to go. You may find the occasional cup to fit either your Magic Bullet or your Nutribullet, but chances are you won’t find items such as replacement blades or gasket rings.
