As I began to read the reviews, I quickly realized that the problem was not her inability to attach the shield but the shield itself. It astounds me that a supposedly high-quality appliance would have such an obviously cheap and poorly designed accessory. This mixer was a Christmas gift for my daughter. She couldn't wait to use it; and five minutes after setting it up, she realized the shield is junk. I hope this is not an omen. I recently purchased my first Kitchenaid stand mixer--an Artisan model. The fit and finish of the mixer and the various attachments is pretty good--with the exception of this pouring shield. The design does not fit the mixing bowl that well, and does not secure itself to the bowl in any way. The poor design combined with the off-center weight distribution means it half falls into the bowl if you look at it wrong. Thankfully I discovered this before ever trying to use it with the mixer running. I thought maybe the wrong size was included, but no--after reading the reviews here it's clear that it is simply a poorly designed product.

If you do not have this pouring shield yet, please save your money and DO NOT buy it. Verified purchaser The shield works extremely well. It was a great addition to my Mixer. Verified purchaser Just received the pouring shield for my 5 qt. mixing bowl. The shield does not fit. Not even close to being a snug fit. Falls off if bumped or hit accidentally while using mixer. Very disappointed in product and will be returning. Verified purchaser A Christmas present delivered on time Yes (0) No (0) Report Yes (0) No (0) Verified purchaser I bought a Kitchenaid Artisan KSM150PSER for an early Christmas present for myself. I have wanted one for years and was eagerly anticipating making my Christmas cookies with it. One if the features that I was excited about was the pouring shield. from day one it has never stayed on the bowl. As soon as you put it on, it will pop off and go flying off the counter. With the reputation that Kitchenaid has for making such quality equipment, I am very disappointed with the pouring shield.
