The wire whip that we purchased for our KitchenAid (K5SS) mixer is deficient in that the original accessory was made from stainless steel and its dimensions were somewhat larger. This replacement was the only one that we could find available a few months ago. (However, there now ARE other units being promoted as stainless steel but we are still trying to determine whether these are compatible for our mixer model.) The wire whip we originally ordered is promoted as a direct replacement for our specific model mixer, but this is blatantly UNTRUE in that it is not stainless steel and is not quite the right size.The ordered product KitchenAid Wire Whip is too small so that it does not quite reach the mixing bowl bottom. Also, because these units are now subtantially aluminum it is no longer possible to wash them in any automatic dishwasher. The size problem is clearly a design defect, and the material is inferior to the original. We therefore recommend that NO ONE BUY ANY OF THESE until and unless better replacement accessories of proper materials (e.g., stainless steel) and size (accurate) are once again made available.
However, if you are not concerned over fit and you do not need stainless steel then you probably would enjoy the relatively low price of this aluminum wire whip. Great idea and I was super excited about it, but I must have somehow gotten the wrong one because it's too tall for my mixer Replacement for my 40 year old one that finally broke.Same great quality as the originalDid not look close enough and ordered the wrong size. This one is for a mega mixer. Didn't fit Kitchen Aid advertised size. Then wouldn't pay for return. Said they would search for the one I needed. Like I would trust them again... I was given a stand mixer as a gift but I did not have extra attachments. My mixer's head does not tip up as the more pricier models do and finding attachments that fit was not an... Great product and fits perfect! Great whip, made well work well, got it to replace original that broke. This was a gift for my sister who had worn hers out! She was already happily using it for Christmas baking when I called to make sure it arrived.
