This replacement was the only one that we could find available a few months ago. (However, there now ARE other units being promoted as stainless steel but we are still trying to determine whether these are compatible for our mixer model.) The wire whip we originally ordered is promoted as a direct replacement for our specific model mixer, but this is blatantly UNTRUE in that it is not stainless steel and is not quite the right size.

The ordered product KitchenAid Wire Whip is too small so that it does not quite reach the mixing bowl bottom. Also, because these units are now subtantially aluminum it is no longer possible to wash them in any automatic dishwasher. The size problem is clearly a design defect, and the material is inferior to the original. We therefore recommend that NO ONE BUY ANY OF THESE until and unless better replacement accessories of proper materials (e.g., stainless steel) and size (accurate) are once again made available. However, if you are not concerned over fit and you do not need stainless steel then you probably would enjoy the relatively low price of this aluminum wire whip. Great idea and I was super excited about it, but I must have somehow gotten the wrong one because it's too tall for my mixer Replacement for my 40 year old one that finally broke.Same great quality as the originalDid not look close enough and ordered the wrong size.
