On the stock part it's star-shaped and mates well with the blender coupling.

On this part there are fewer tines and it's bar-shaped. Because it doesn't fully engage the blender coupling, torque generated when smashing hard objects in the blender (such as ice) results in a broken blender.The only upside is that you can also buy new blender couplings. I don't know if this should encourage or enrage me.
