Hotpoint HD Line: £70, amazon Although this isn’t Hotpoint’s latest model, we reckon it’s one of the best. It comes with a bowl and jug blender, along with attachments for shredding, kneading, chopping, beating and blending. We don’t rate its slicing action as the results aren’t always even, but it’s excellent at everything else.

We found it tough enough to cut through almost anything – even frozen raw meat – and it has 10 variable speeds. 5. The mother of all food processors from the makers of the UK’s first, this is a great choice if you’re a bit of a home-Heston. It comes with 13 accessories (including three different-size bowls, an egg whisk and a citrus press), works quickly and quietly and the 3.6 litre capacity is more than enough. 7. It’s a doddle to use, clean and store away and the patented blade system enables you to carefully control how small you chop. Despite being manual, it cuts through tough foods including frozen fruit. 11. Judge Mini Food Processor: £45, amazon It might not be the fastest machine on the market, but if you want something for occasional chopping and grating and don’t want to spend more than £50, this gadget is a handy choice. It’s also not very big, which makes it nice and easy to store, and the bowl-less design saves on washing up. We love the Sage Kitchen Wizz Pro – it’s a dab hand at pretty much everything, plus it’s got nice-to-have extra features for busy cooks.
