I have tried making a smoothie several times. When I use blueberries, they only get stirred in. What an absolute piece of junk. I never used it until today. I fill it with liquid and it instantly starts leaking. Very hard to clean. Grew mold in one part because I could get it out. The lid leaks if you fill to the 6 cup mark with a mostly liquid content. Even when I push down on the lid with my hand while blending it still leaks.I have used it for multiple things and I will continue to use this for a while. love the design and the color. I love this blender. I was a little skeptical since it was not costly. It was originally a gift that came back to me and I am glad it did I have used more expensive blenders this...
The first time I used this, there was a leak and a burning smell. By the second time, the leak has stopped but the burning smell persisted. It blended my drinks well. I make a smoothie or protien shake every day. In order for it to dispense your drinks just for those of you who say it would not dispense your smoothie or milk shake the machine has to be ON in the DISPENSE mode.... if it is not on there is nothing to force thicker stuff out. Today I cleaned my machine, and went to make my morning Smoothie. I turn it on and I imediately hear a noise and something has come loose inside the base of the machine and it no longer functions properly.
SO I am throwing it out. I only paid 20.00 for it so it lasted the expected 3 months. I wish it had exceeded it because this machine was originally double the price. Some recommendations from other Juicer/smoothie makers who do it on a daily basis as a way to get fruit and veggies please post them here as I am in the market for a new one as of today. I have a vitamin dificiency so I have to make myself get in a lot of Veggies and fruits. But guess WHAT THIS CAN DO IT TOO I literally want a green smoothie so bad and even borrowed my sister's fancy name brand blender and it didn't even work motor or something must of went out. Since i already had my ingredients set out and cut up i decided to put everything in the blender and see what would happen. It demolished the spinach, carrots, and apple up really good you would have never thought it was in there unless you were making the smoothie yourself.

I have Osteoarthritis in both shoulders and the large glass jar was too heavy for me. I searched online for a blender that had a plastic jar and would get the job done. I finally came upon this blender and decided to order it. I was so happy when I got it all out of the box: it was very, very well packaged! For me, it has the right amount of speed buttons (the other one had tons I'd never use), is just the right weight and even though the jar is quite a bit smaller than the other one, it is perfect for me. I couldn't wait to make a healthy smoothie so I could determine if it would really be able to handle ice.
I use ice trays that have smaller squares than regular ones. It grinds those cubes right up! TIP: always put liquid in BEFORE you add ice, as it is much easier on the motor. I use it almost every day and I would highly recommend it to others. I tried out the spout that comes with it, but for me; I found it was less messy to just pour from the jar. The optional cap used to close off the hole for the spout doesn't leak and I am very happy. Yes () No (3) Report Yes () No (3) I have had this specific model for around 2 years, it still looks good and fully functions. Unlike many other reviews, I have encountered NO PROBLEMS. I use it mainly for making various protein and fruit smoothies. There are two caveats, that ail users should follow: First, make sure the two gears (the gray ones between the motor and the blades) are properly engaged / meshed. Second, one must always put into the container a liquid, perhaps 6 ounces, FIRST; then any fresh or frozen fruit and then a few Ice cubes. Sometimes I add a scoop of protein powder or even a bit of powdered milk to the blend I am making.
I find I can make an excellent soft-serve Ice Cream by using about 6 ounces of cold half-n-half and a teaspoon of sugar and a dash of vanilla and three or four frozen strawberries. I add only two strawberries and blend for a minute or so, then I add the remaining berries and blend until I get the consistency I want. With care, I can now make the ice cream so it will be somewhat chunky like the Premium Ice Creams. It has a three year warranty, and HB has a website where they list email and "800" numbers for warranty, etc. I really like this machine and I paid much less than I had anticipated.
