A few weeks before I bought this one, I got a Cuisinart CSB-79 (at over twice the cost of this HB blender). My hands are small and a bit arthritic. Having to squeeze something tightly hurts. Well, the Cuisinart was a pain. It was big and clunky, the speed buttons were poorly located and hard to use. It was literally a pain. (Guys with big hands would be okay with it, though.) So I let my arthritic fingers do the walking, and found this Hamilton Beach hand blender. The blender fits comfortably in my hands and the speed buttons are so easy (and painless) to use. The high speed of this blender is actually faster than the Cuisinart, and it's just as powerful. It does an excellent job. The food processor is also wonderful. It's obviously small, but using realistic portions and a bit of pre-chopping, it does a great job, and very quickly, too.
Clean-up is a snap. I haven't used the wire whisk. Comfort, speed, power, and excellent results. And less than half the price of Cuisinart. What's not to love? After reading several reviews, I decided on the Hamilton Beach with chopping bowl. I recently purchased a crock pot & been cooking more healthy meals. Several recipes included grated Parmesan cheese. Upon learning some manufacturers of grated Parmesan cheese included wood sawdust, I said no more. So i decided to buy a wedge of real Parmesan and grate it. The manual work of grating cheese was very painful, not to mention the scraped knuckles and joints. Enter the HB hand blender. I cut up small pieces for cheese from the wedge, put it in the chopping bowl & let the blender do the work. Within minutes between the high/low speed, I had my grated cheese. And no blood was spilled.
I have also used blender for general mixing of liquids & worked fine. I figure if it can handle Parmesan cheese, this blender can handle anything. The attachments were hand washed but since we have put attachments on top shelf of dishwasher w/o problem. I am most pleased with this purchase. It is also needed with the blending attachment and with the chopper attachment. It must first be turned and then it must snap into place, or it will fall off when using the whisk or the blender. This is not in the instructions. Also the whisk attachment must snap into place, otherwise it will spin out of control and fall off while it is being used. Once these issues are realized, and everything is fastened correctly, the machine works very well and does all it is supposed to.kitchenaid stand mixer 4ksm50pwh Yes () No (1)  Report Yes () No (1) Verified purchaser Purchased as a gift for my daughter who loves to cook & had a Hamilton Beach hand blender she had bought used for $1.00 @ a garage sale a couple of years earlier that is still working fine but it didn't have all the features of this model. vitamix tnc 5200 geizhals
Every time she told me about preparing a dinner for her friends she almost always had something good to say about her old hand blender. I saw this model while shopping where I live, got her on line to let her have a look. This model was not stocked @ her location so I ordered & paid for it on line & it was sent to her store in her city for pick up @ NO COST TO HER. She has used it to make all kinds of salsas & smoothies & she love the mixing bowl & two speeds that her old one did not have. She gives it an A+ Yes () No (1)  Report Yes () No (1) Verified purchaser I love this product. I use it all the time for all kinds of things. I think my expectations were unrealistic and I think these take some getting used to.
I used this to make tomato soup and it took about one minute to blend the tomatoes. For some reason I was expecting more like 10 seconds but once I got it in a position it seemed to like, it took off. What I like most is that there is no splash, it seemed to suck the tomatoes into a vacuum under the mixer and get the job done BUT that is only after I found that spot so I'm not sure if it was the positioning the whole time or if it changed as the tomatoes blended into a smoother mixture. Either way, it was a great first experience and the soup is the best I've ever had! I am happy I bought it.
It is great for a variety of uses. Soups, gravy, slushies, sauces, milk shakes, apple sauce, and many more. I use it practically every day. The chopper bowl is a nice size, and I like the non-slip bottom. It's handy for processing small amounts of food, so I don't have to get the food processor out - great for quick breadcrumbs. The whip is a nice inclusion. I love being able to use the blender wand on soups or sauces right in the pan, without having to deal with transfering to the regular blender - also, blending hot liquids in the regular blender can be tricky.
