It seems to struggle with blending chunky items such as garlic, green pepper etc. I will keep it though. Makes such good margaritas. This blender was a poor choice from the start. Even something as easy as smoothies made the motor smell like it was burning. Never got all the chunks out. Has a strong motor. It lacked the entire bottom assembly - cutter, ring and screw cap.Although skeptical that anything fabricated today would actually fit and work for a what might be a forty-year old blender, I relied on the reviews I read for the cutter assembly and bought Factory Services HA-010 Blender Cutter Assembly, one Bottom Base Screw Cap for Hamilton Beach Blender, and TWO Replacement Hamilton Beach blender o-ring seals.

With two o-rings the cutter assembly fits and works perfectly. (Without using the second o-ring to raise the cutting assembly up a fraction of an inch higher in the screw cap, the seating was unstable.) Whether the problem is with the dimensions of the cutter assembly or the screw cap, I don't know - nor do I care - because the second o-ring makes it fit.If the slight sizing problem is with the screw cap, then I should probably rate this part as a 4-star to alert owners of older blenders about the need for the second o-ring. As it is, I made an arbitrary decision and assigned the sizing problem to the cutter assembly, giving it a 4-star rating instead of a 5-star. This in no way reflects how well it works now.
