Fell apart after 2 months light use. Rubber prongs that mate to clutch separated from rest if unit.Very POOOooR, Poor quality. Part was locked up, unusable, and completely worthless. This Blendin Blade is very poor at chopping ice cubes. My original one did a wonderful job. I use my blender much of the time for making frozen drinks. It's exactly what I needed and it even arrived a day early. Age 18-24 25-34 35-44 45-54 55-64 65 and older Gender Male Female I purchased this blender about three months ago. I like to use a product for a while before I give it a thumbs up or down. Out of the three blenders I've used (Oster, GE, and Hamilton Beach), I prefer this one. I use it mostly for smoothies, and it does a good job of blending. There were a few instances where the blender struggled to create a smooth consistency. I think I used too little liquid and too many frozen fruit pieces. If I pour the liquid in first and then add fruit, I achieve the consistency I desire (no leftover chunks).
The cap is awesome, and the lid seal is tight so there is no leakage. The gasket and blade are one whole piece, so there are less parts to clean or replace. I really like the design, which is squat and compact. Overall, I am happy with this purchase. I hope this blender is durable, but only time will tell. I was worried about blade durability when it started leaving fruit chunks in my drink, but again, I think that was user error. I am the type of person who looks at reviews before purchasing because ,a person does not take time to write a review unless they really ,really, love a product or really, really, hate a product. This product I had to write about because I love it!!! It is a very good product for the price. Walmart does sell it cheaper then any other store I have looked at online. So far we have used it for making shakes , or what some call smoothies. We use fresh fruit and the blender just seems chop up the fruit really well.
It takes the ice you add, and really chops it up well. This blender has a wave action blades that takes the ice that's at the top ,and brings that ice to the bottom to chop up. I also love how it can pour right out of the top of the lid, very nice feature. The lid on top is a little tight to take off ,but I think that is so it insures that the lid does not come off when pouring your drink. Overall a good blender. In the summer I'm a smoothie addict and this makes them better than any blender I've ever had. Some other pros about the item: The pitcher is squatter and shorter. Makes for a firmer attachment to the blender. Makes it easier to clean as it fits under the faucet. I also think this slightly different shape makes it blend easier as more of your ingredients are by the blades. The top fits extremely snug.
The pour spout is fantastic. The running seems quieter than other blenders. As far as a blender can be it is attractive. I would give six stars if I could. Yes () No (3)  Report Yes () No (3) If you want to make thinner drinks with a lot of liquid in them, then this will work nicely. If, however, you want to make thicker sorbet-like desserts, ones that won't actually pour, then you will be disappointed. I regularly make shakes from frozen fruit, and I had to add so much liquid that it wasn't the thick consistency I was used to. No matter how I tried to move the contents around to help the blades, it wouldn't blend it any further until I added more liquid. My old Oster did a much better job with this, even though I had to use a spoon to mix the contents around twice or so. On the other hand, the blender does a nice job of blending thinner mixtures, and the motor is quiet. Yes () No (2)  Report Yes () No (2) This is the best Blender I have ever owned. When you select the "smoothie" button - makes the best Margueritas ever!!!!!!

My main usage is for smoothies for my family and I wanted a machine that would be solid enough to do that on a daily basis with fruits, veggies and lots of ice. The Professional Ninja with 1000 watts was out of my budget, but this Hamilton Beach has 550 watts which is more than most of the others I looked at, is less than half the price the Ninja and half the wattage of the Ninja. I've had Hamilton Beach products before and LOVED them so I knew it was a brand I could trust. (My HB food processor lasted 18 yrs.) I chose this model instead of the comparable Oster because of the extra 100 watts on this one (Oster has 450wts). It was worth it! I just made our first smoothies and was sooo pleased. I filled the container right up, liquid in the bottom, fruits, ice, yogurt, etc on top. The base is solid and didn't rattle or shake and the blender is quieter than others I've heard.
It chopped the ice quickly with NO big chunks left in the smoothie. It blended everything in less than 30 seconds. The smoothie was well blended (no fruit chunks or strings), the ice totally blended as well and the machine looked and sounded like it wasn't working hard at all, like I had hardly tapped into it's full energy. I like the wave action too. Most blenders shoot the ingredients straight up, don't blend well and you usually can't fill the container all the way because it needs room to blend. The wave action on this really does swirl the ingredients and pull them back down to the bottom to be blended. You can SEE it working in a wave. The ice was the very last thing I put in the smoothie so it was on the top of everything and got pulled down into the blades with the wave action and chopped up fast. Because I was able to completely fill the container to the line with ingredients, this blender blended enough smoothie to fill 4 glasses to the top. No need to make a second batch to have enough for my family.
I also really like the pour feature in the lid. The lid is rubber and fits nice and tight and I felt very safe just lifting this to pour into our glasses without holding onto the lid to keep it on. Glass in one hand, blender pitcher in the other. All in all, I really like this model and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good, solid blender. If the Ninja is out of your budget, this is the machine for you. Yes () No (0)  Report Yes () No (0) This blender is a newer version of one I've had for about 20 years. It finally gave up the ghost so I orderd another of the same brand and size, except for a bit larger motor. I figured if my old one lasted this long and worked great for this long then I would stay with the same manufacturer. This blender is easy to use, the 40 oz. "glass" jar is perfect for my needs. Since the power buttons are nearly the same as on my old unit there was no need to familiarize myself with the new blender. And the new one does a better job of breaking up the ice and blending my drinks.
Am very happy with this purchase. Yes () No (1)  Report Yes () No (1) I was thinking that it could have been the very hard, minerally well water here, but every time I washed it, I had more trouble getting the top off after blending something. I really had to wrestle with it to get it off. I was trying to learn to live with that because I liked the "wave action" that helped cycle the ingredients back down to the blades, but then I thought I had gotten the bottom screwed on right, and when I poured it leaked out. I tried really hard to make sure that the bottom was on again correctly the next time, but it was still wrong and leaked out. I'm getting up there in age and have never had trouble like that with any blender I've ever had, so I gave up and returned it. This newer model has important upgrades.
