This model doesn't have a blend button but it does have a smoothie button.not as quite as I would like, but works well For a home use blender this works well. I like that the gear contact points are metal. Stronger and durable than my last. Vortex isn't super strong, but it gets the job done I bought this for smoothies and milkshakes! Sometimes, I have to stop the motor and clear out the air bubbles with a spoon, which happens with all blenders ever. I bought this late Jan of 2012 and, although it has not been used a lot for awhile, it works great whenever I need it. I would buy it again. The black plastic cover is very soft and the small clear plastic cap on top of the black cover falls into the cup when holding it down during use This thing is powerful. It is also quite loud. It works very well so far though!
