The main parts that are necessary for functioning are plastic..I tried to shred some cheese in the food processor and the plastic part that is used to... I've had several Cuisinart products and have generally been impressed. So, I was excited to get & use this immersion blender. Just bought this to replace the older one I melted by touching it to a hot pan. A new "safety"feature is a lock button on top of the unit which must be pressed... I purchased this and used it for banana egg and milk shake every morning no ice - it lasted for about 8 weeks and stopped tuning blades - it cost me $10. the best ever smart trio tool I ever used. On of the best brand I bought the smart stick 10 months ago. All was good except for the food processor unit which worked at first but then stopped working. Have had for six months, use it daily love it very dependable

If you need one appliance in your kitchen, I say buy this product. You won't need anything else. It can pulverize frozen fruit , a little almond milk and yogurt into a ice-cream like treat. Makes Mayo in a snap,and soups are creamy smooth...love the chopper attachment. Make sure you have the blending stick set correctly. One Caveat I would caution when handling. this is powerful motor and with the blade exposed it is not for a child to use. you must have a firm grip on the container you are using the stick in, or it will turn. I don't put my hand anywhere near the blade when it plugged in. if you have your hand on the power switch, you can easily bump it activating the blade. Worked well for mixing, whipping cream and chopping onions and celery. Next day I used it to slice a few mushrooms - heard a loud crunching sound. Motor ground part of the plastic stem from the top of the food chopper piece. Perhaps the motor is too powerful for the plastic attachment? If I cannot use all the components, I would not have spent the extra cost for the accompanying attachments. Purchased this particular item because of the Cuisinart brand.
