It has never been good at cycling the ice to the bottom. Have to open it and mix fruit for smoothies myself. Owned this just over a year before the gear teeth on the bottom of the blade assembly stripped out. The kind people at Cuisinart are willing to sell me another for $30 + shipping. I wanted to love this blender, and even defended it against the Vitamix. But it never once made a smoothie without me having to turn it off, add more liquid, and stir it up to... My husband has always wanted the perfect blender to make smoothies. This is excatly what he wanted! I really got my moneys worth. Agree with K.C. Purchased thinking Cuisinart was a good brand. Should have checked reviews here first. Had the blender for about a year. Only used maybe 20 times. The main reason I bought this blender was for making smoothies, which I thought would be easy with the Smoothie button. I was very excited to receive this blender at Christmas. After the first round in the dishwasher the lid changed shape and no longer worked.
