Just bought this to replace the older one I melted by touching it to a hot pan. A new "safety"feature is a lock button on top of the unit which must be pressed... I purchased this and used it for banana egg and milk shake every morning no ice - it lasted for about 8 weeks and stopped tuning blades - it cost me $10. the best ever smart trio tool I ever used. I bought the smart stick 10 months ago. All was good except for the food processor unit which worked at first but then stopped working. Have had for six months, use it daily love it very dependable If you need one appliance in your kitchen, I say buy this product. You won't need anything else. We bought ours a few years ago and it initially worked fine ... but eventually the blade would not turn, even though the motor was still turning at high speed.Works well, extra good power.
