Have to open it and mix fruit for smoothies myself. I hate buying blenders because it is hard to find a good one. Here is the reason I love this one:Large Glass Container with VERY clear markers. After using several different high-priced blenders, this is the absolutely best blender we have ever bought! Owned this just over a year before the gear teeth on the bottom of the blade assembly stripped out. The kind people at Cuisinart are willing to sell me another for $30 + shipping.

After the first round in the dishwasher the lid changed shape and no longer worked.
