Because it looked stylish and was a reputable make, I returned it and the shop issued me with a replacement. This proceeded to smoke and stop working, after only three attempts to make it to do nothing more than it was meant to. If I knew where Mr Breville lived, I would throw it through his window - it's good for nothing else… I have had nothing but grief from my blender from the moment I started to use it I could smell the motor was struggling and the blade housing snapped while in ice mode which by the way cannot be replaced.

Do not buy a Breville BL1 blender if to use for food. Good for smoothies, but that's it!
