Has always had issues with leaking if silicone gasket not set perfectly and even if it was it was never clear why it leaked. I purchased this blender and it has a chemical taste. The motor also smokes. It's out of warranty and the Breville site is a nightmare! Do not purchase: The unit motor burnt after 15 uses. Used mine 2-3x per week for 6 years. Just broke the handle on the Jar today. $50 delivered seems ok to me, as the blade bearing is starting to get nasty anyway. I can't understand where the negative reviews for this product come from.
I am beginning to think Amazon is being attacked by bands of roving trolls, placing negative reviews... My Ikon blender jar bearing seized and was putting parts into smoothies, temp timing the fuse out at 4 seconds etc.Same nightmare as everyone else. This is one good looking blender. I had purchased this blender for my mother over 4 years ago. I fell in love with the sleek style so.. Breville discontinued this blender, good thing. The bottom screw on thing would get stuck. I called Breville and they sent me the next blender up (BBL605XL) for free. Used the Breville blender less than ten times and every time it works worse and worse. Trying to return, hopefully this will be stress free. Breville no longer makes glass. So they no longer can provide you a replacement if you (or the cleaning lady) break the jar. Posted by John Guy on 3rd Dec 2016 Ordered replacement gasket for Breville Blender. Used appropriate model number. Gasket received, doesn't fit. More expensive to return than it is worth.
