A word of warning – almost every bullet blender claims to be able to crush ice, but we found they rarely can. 1. Nutribullet Graphite: £79.99, Lakeland Pretty much anyone who has one of these will happily wax lyrical about its efficiency. We found it exceptional at making soup, smoothies and sauces like pesto. Available in red, grey or black, it couldn’t be simpler to use and comes with a tall jug, two shorter cups (great for taking to work) and two separate blades for blitzing and milling. 2. Salter Nutri Pro 1000: £49.99, Robert Dyas In terms of looks, this is similar to the Nutribullet, but it’s got a more powerful motor and a multi-purpose blade, which makes it very versatile. It comes with a one-litre cup and two extra 800ml cups with lids for when you’re out and about. You can’t put the parts in the dishwasher, though, and it’s quite noisy. 3. Breville Blend-Active Blender: £49.99, Argos Despite this black, tube-shaped blender only having a 300W motor, one speed setting and a smallish plastic bottle, it’s great for making smoothies and soups, quickly – and it hardly takes up any space on your worktop.
Extras include a guard, sleeve and resealable lid for the cup. 4. Vitamix S30: £339, UK Juicers This is way more fast and versatile than most bullet blenders, with 10 different speeds and the ability to do whole fruit juicing so that you get all the nutrients. You can also create anything from dough to frozen puddings and nut butters. It comes with a generous 1.2 litre plastic jug and a 600ml plastic travel cup, both spill-proof. It’s available in four different colours, and is bigger than most bullet blenders, but still smaller than jug ones. 5. Russell Hobbs 21350 Mix and Go: £24, Amazon This great-value mini blender is ideal for simple smoothies and soups. There are no switches – you just place one of the two 600ml bottles on the base and press down to pulse, or twist to blade. It’s not the fastest, though, particularly with tougher fruits, vegetables and nuts. 6. Tribest Personal Blender: £89.95, UK Juicers This machine comes with five high quality blending/storage jars (two plastic and three glass), all different sizes and with a sipping lid.
The powerful motor pulses or blends, easily grinding nuts, coffee beans and flax seeds. There are some great recipes included and parts are dishwasher-friendly. And unlike many blenders, it’s impossible to make contact with the blade, making it extra-safe. 7. Philips Smoothie Detox and Health Mini Blender: £49.95, John Lewis This claims to make great shakes, smoothies, soups, dips and cocktails and we found it did a good job of all of them, although you may need to shake things up a bit with dryer ingredients. The on-the-go bottle is handy and the multi-chopper accessory does a reasonable job on the likes of onions and meat, although it struggled with nuts. 8. Kenwood Sport2Go: £29.95, John Lewis This is a compact machine that works at two different speeds, as well as pulsing. It comes with two 600ml sports bottles. We found it made great soup, provided we were patient, and decent smoothies. For sauces, you might have to shake the bottle up a bit to stop the ingredients getting stuck, but the finished product tasted good.
9. Nutri Ninja Pro with Auto IQ: £119.99, Lakeland This powerful machine has a button for pulsing and two automatic programs that either blend or do a mixture of blending and pulsing. It makes light work of soft ingredients and can also handle tougher ingredients like nuts and frozen fruits. 10. Sage Boss to Go: £129.95, Sage There’s no need to shake the ingredients about in this 800-watt machine. Its patented blending action exterminates lumps from tough ingredients in seconds when making smoothies, although it won’t make soups other than gazpacho as it isn’t heat resistant. It comes with two smooth-edge cups with travel lids and there’s a comprehensive recipe book. 11. Davina for Lakeland Personal Blender: £29.99, Lakeland Davina McCall, the television presenter turned fitness queen, has become one of the go-to celebrities for getting a healthy bod, so it’s no wonder she’s put her name to a bullet blender that makes tasty smoothies and juices reasonably quickly and easily.
It comes with two size cups, with sipper lids for an on-the-go lifestyle. 12. Tefal Fruit Sensation: £49.99, Amazon With its metallic finish and high-quality glass jug, this sleek looking machine looks great in most kitchens, which is a good job as many will find it too heavy to store away every time. It comes with two speed settings and a mini-chopper and mini-grinder and a thick recipe book, including cocktails. It does a decent job, although the jug is heavy and could do with a handle. 13. Morphy Richards Easy Blend: £17.99, Amazon This is easy to set up and use and the two speeds and pulse function mean smoothies can be blended to how you like them. Two beakers with detachable lids are included with measuring marks, but although it says it can blend frozen fruit, we found it struggled with. Best for occasional usage as it seems to overheat if used many times in a row. The Nutribullet Graphite is seen by many as the bullet blender and we found it’s a reputation that’s well deserved.
