My blender came in a generic cardboard box. No manual, no literature just the blender. Not sure if it's a refurbished unit. Love it except for it's terrible noise when functioning....Still considering about keeping it or returning it. Home & Kitchen > Kitchen & Dining > Small Appliances > Blenders > Countertop BlendersWhen it comes to blenders, there are dozens of brand names and hundreds of different models to consider. If you really want the best blender out there, however, you will probably find yourself choosing between a few major brands – Blendtec and Vitamix. Before you make your choice, you need to compare these two brands based on several key factors including price, design, performance, and durability.

The Designer blender is a step up in terms of price and performance but the Professional line offers the most powerful motor and the best performance. To save a little money, you also have the option to purchase refurbished versions of their standard models. When you think of major blender brands, Vitamix is probably one of the names on your list. Vitamix is known for producing top-quality blenders that offer unmatched versatility and dependable quality. This company divides their blenders into several series based on design. The S-Series is a line of personal blenders that allow you to blend single serving beverages and take them on the go in the blender cup. The C-Series is a line of classic blenders that offer basic blending functions with simple controls. The G-Series of next generation blenders includes premium performance, sleek design, and powerful motors. Vitamix offers products along a large spectrum of prices so there is an option for every budget. Now that you have a better understanding of these two brands and the blenders they offer you can directly compare them in terms of price, design, performance, and durability.

If you are considering a Blendtec or Vitamix blender, you should be prepared to make a considerable investment because neither of these brands is cheap. According to the Blendtec website, the cheapest Classic model sells for $319.95 new or about $250 refurbished. The Designer line starts at $479.95 and the Professional line at $599.95. The Vitamix line of personal blenders starts at $259 and the Classic line starts at $299. The G-Series ranges from $429 to $719. Both Blendtec and Vitamix offer a number of different designs but there are several important points of comparison. While exact sizes vary, Blendtec blenders tend to be a little more compact that Vitamix blenders, standing about 15 inches tall compared to about 20 inches. In terms of speed and power, the basic line of Vitamix blenders draws about 11.5 amps or 1380 watts of power while the Blendtec draws 13 amps or 1560 watts. Both of these brands offer variable blending speeds (some with as many as 10 different speeds) and RPMs up to 28,000 for Blendtec and up to 37,000 for Vitamix.

The main difference is that Blendtec’s minimum speed capacity is 4,080 RPM while Vitamix has a 500 RPM option – this gives you greater control at lower speeds. In terms of performance, you can count on both Blendtec and Vitamix to blend just about any ingredient you can think of. Most Vitamix models offer full manual control with 10 variable speeds in addition to a High/Low switch. Blendtec also offers variable blending speeds in addition to their patented Smart-Touch technology which has an automatic program cycle which varies the blending speed and stops automatically when the program time is completed. Blendtec also has a built-in computer that detects overheated, overloaded, and jammed blade situations to prevent damage. Vitamix has overheat protection, but it is not quite as advanced. All of Vitamix’s and Blendtec’s blending jars are made from BPA-free copolyester plastic which is lightweight and extremely durable. Both brands offer different sizes and their containers can handle both hot and cold ingredients.
