Posted on July 8th, 2015 There are so many blending options to choose from when it comes to making your favorite shakes and smoothies.

Since we’ve been blending up smoothies for 20 plus years now at the HMR Clinic, we thought we’d share with you our top picks when it comes to blenders. As it turns out, choosing a blender has our Health Coaches at odds (it was a heated debate when we broached the topic!). So, here are the top blender picks by coach: NutriBullet: Coach Jeff’s Pick Jeff transitioned from the Magic Bullet to this NutriBullet and was very happy with the change. He finds it great for every day shake making, which is a must for him because he has a breakfast shake every morning. It’s also easy to clean, so he doesn’t have to worry about soaking it or washing it by hand. Jeff’s favorite thing about the NutriBullet is its strong engine — the original model has 600 watts of power, and newer, more advanced models are up to 1700 watts! The power of the engine means that you can count on a great consistency time after time, and never have to worry about lumps or chunks. Its large cup makes it perfect for blend and go shakes or drinks to share… it’s really the best of all worlds!

Vitamix Blender: Coach Sheri’s Pick The consistency of the shakes made with this powerful blender is amazing…they are always super smooth (think creamy like a Wendy’s frosty). We use this at the San Diego Clinic for our taste test recipes and samples. It is by far the BEST blender we have ever used. Prior to jumping into the Vitamix, we purchased a different brand high end blender, but we quickly encountered problems with that blender – we found that it was difficult to use and slightly dangerous to clean and it broke quickly). For a big blender, the Vitamix is remarkably easy to clean (however not as easy as the NutriBullet). It’s self-cleaning — you add hot water and suds and run the blender to clean, so you avoid having to touch the seriously sharp blades! The Vitamix blender is a bit of an investment (it’s pricey!), but it’s a quality kitchen appliance that is built to last. Our coaches can’t agree – but the good news is that you really can’t go wrong with either of these blenders.

And, if you’re looking for an on the go blender option the entire office agrees that the Blender Bottle – it’s a must for making a shake wherever you go.
